TRIP TO CALIFORNIA

We spent a week in California this summer thawing out after a long Alaskan winter and an exceptionally cold summer. We didn't mind the 100 degree temperatures (ok the kids did keep asking me to turn the heat off every time we got in the car). I was pleased with the extra hot conditions and soaked up every bit of sun that I possibly could in a one week span. We spent much of our time at the water parks or in the backyard playing in the kiddie pool.

WET AND WILD

Water, water everywhere. If there was water involved, Mitchell and Quinn were happy! This is Quinn's new friend, Brendan who is just like Quinn - scary!

My dear friend, Danielle. It had been 5 long years since our last visit but once we were together it was just like old times. It is obvious that our friendship can endure the test of time. Posted by Picasa

THE WATER SLIDE

It was at the Grandparent's house (otherwise known as Funderland) that the kids really had the most fun.

If all the swimming, jumping on the trampoline and playing in the playground wasn't enough - the water slide was a huge hit!Posted by Picasa

ADVENTURERS

The giant Sugar Pine cones

Quinn and Brendan were quite the pair. With similar personalities and the same great sense of humor, they became good buddies.

Memorial Day Weekend in HOMER!

Homer provided us with a weekend of wild winds, cold nights, more wind, rain, more wind and every now and then some sunshine. It was an adventure to say the least! We all had a great time and the kids came home worn out, dirty and very happy!

The Spit Sisiters Cafe
This is one of my favorite places in Alaska.

A Child's Dream

Here we see the wonderful thought process of a six year old

Mitchell said one day, "I had a dream that I was so thirsty and I got myself a drink in my dream, but when I woke up I was still thirsty."

Days later (after much serious thought I'm sure)....

Mitchell says, "In Heaven, if I had a dream about being thirsty and getting a drink, do you think I would not be thirsty when I woke up?"

Mommy says, "That's a great question Mitchell, I don't know"

Mitchell's reply, "I bet Grandpa knows"

WE'RE IN BIG TROUBLE!!

Well, it finally happened. I knew this day would come, I just didn't expect it so soon. Scott has been warning me for years that when he was young he would come home after school and build himself an enormous sandwich (just for a little snack, of course) and then consume a full dinner just one hour later.

Mitchell came home from school yesterday and said, "Mom, can I have a sandwich?" With my jaw on the floor and my eyes as large a dinner plates, my shocked reply was, "Really?"

With Mitchell at only a mere 6 years old, I started thinking about what life will be like when he's 15 (and brings friends home)!!!!! I guess I will be spending my days at Costco in an effort to keep the fridge stocked!

Preschool Field Trip

Quinn's Preschool went to the Imaginarium, a science discovery center. They saw newly hatched chicks and had the opportunity to hold them. Quinn didn't want to because he said they were too prickly.

Quinn had a great time with his buddy Shane!

Easter Party!

Happy Easter

Mitchell and Quinn found baskets on Easter morning filled with lots of little toys including clay, sunglasses, wooden airplanes, stickers and new coloring books.

It's called "Galactic Putty" and it's slimy and gooey and little boys just love it!

The Easter Baskets contained some cool new shades!!

Happy 4th Birthday Quinn

Once again, Scott went to work on creating a Birthday masterpiece. Complete with trees and dinosaurs fleeing the hot lava, the volcano cake was a real crowd pleaser.

Opening the presents became a flurry of excited chaos, with paper and ribbons flying. Of course, all the other little party-goers wanted to assist in the unwrapping. The high energy might have had something to do with mass-consumption of volcano cake!
