FIRST DAY

Mitchell's first day of Kindergarten August 28th, 2007!
He was very excited on his first day and has been
enjoying kindergarten now for two weeks!
On the first day, Quinn kept asking if it was time to go get Mitchell yet.
(he really missed his best friend)

MITCHELL - AUGUST 2007

Mitchell recently had a meeting with his Kindergarten teacher and he is now VERY excited about starting school. When we left he asked, "Mom, how many days until Kindergarten?". I told him there were 7 more days to go and he replied, "I wish it was only one, because this is going to be the funnest thing I ever done."

CAMPING TRIP JULY 2007

Camping Buddies!

Daddy and his boys roasting marshmallows around the campfire!

The beach in Homer provides Mitchell and Quinn with hours
of entertainment. It was especially interesting with such a dramatic low tide.

Memorial Day Weekend

It's good to be King!

A couple wild animals in a cage? Yes indeed!!
Boys and FIRE!!

The tradition continues with the annual Memorial Day weekend in Homer. The camping and fishing seasons begin each year as we make the five hour journey south. This year, as usual, the Peckham and Stanley families helped us kick-off the season. New to the Memorial weekend adventure were the Hewletts, MacFarlanes and Cresswells.

The fishing was great, the s'mores were sinful, the beach was every child's (and dog's) playland, the campfires were roaring and the rock throwing was endless.

Oh How Sweet It Is!

Ready for church and being especially sweet. It's amazing that such sweet looking boys can get into so much mischief!

2007 Fun Run at the ZOO

It was the first Saturday morning in May when crowds of 'camera ready' parents stood at the finish line in great anticipation. There were many high-fives, grins from ear to ear and a few tears as racers either ran, walked, wobbled or were carried across the finish line. For many a 3 year old, this was the longest run of their lives!

PROUD AS CAN BE

A big day for Mitchell this May 4th has been. Today was the first day he rode his bike without training wheels. He was so proud of himself!! His inspiration and determination came from Carson, a friend in the neighborhood who is also 5 years old. Mitchell saw Carson without his training wheels and he asked if he could try. When he instantly 'got it' Daddy quickly removed Mitchell's training wheels and the showing off began.

Whoever said, "they grow up so fast", really meant it.

MAY MAYHEM

May brings many wonderful activities to the Guyer family. There is much to look forward to but not without a little mayhem in the process. For us May includes:

Spring (at last), Lori's best friend's birthday, the "Fun Run" at the zoo, Scott traveling to Portland for a week, the birthdays of our sisters-in-law, Quinn's best buddy turning three, Mother's Day, our wedding anniversary, and most exciting of all is Memorial Day weekend which is the official kick-off to the camping and fishing season. It is that weekend when our family and several friends make the journey to Homer. Some of those on this journey are in hot pursuit of halibut; others seeking a weekend out of Anchorage; others chasing dogs, skipping rocks on the beach and running free; others relaxing by the ocean and taking in the beauty of Homer; and everyone enjoying time with friends, creating lasting memories together and eating way too many s'mores!

God continues to bless the "Alaskan Guyers" with riches beyond our wildest dreams. With two little boys in the house, God's blessings are right before our eyes. They keep us real, remind us of what's important and bring joy to our lives.

Thoughts of a 3 year old

I asked the boys if they would like to plant a vegetable garden this spring and they were delighted at that idea. I asked them what they would like to plant and they gave me a wonderful list. Mitchell says, "peas, edamame, tomatoes, potatoes and carrots." Then Quinn says, "ya carrots, so if any bunnies come to our house they can eat 'em!"

Girls Girls Girls

When Sylvia came to Anchorage from Abilene Christian University (ACU) for Spring Break Campaign, Mitchell and Quinn were delighted to have their favorite cousin stay with them for a week. The boys were surrounded by beautiful college girls and we're talking gorgeous - every single one of them! Now it's clear that they absolutely love Sylvia beyond measure but they also fell in love with Ashton, one of the ACU students. When we said good-bye at the airport, Mitchell kept saying to her, "You are the most beautiful girl in the universe"! Ever since spring break, when Mitchell and Quinn say their bedtime prayers and thank God for all the people in their life, they also say, "And thank you especially for Ashton!"

Ice Skating

When Sylvia came to Anchorage from Abilene Christian University for Spring Break Campaign we all went downtown to see the ice sculptures. Pretty cool thing to see when you're from Texas! Mitchell and Quinn were ice skating while the ACU students were being silly on the ice and horsing around with our boys. Then we all stood in a circle and sang songs until the Texans were numb from the beautiful Alaskan winter weather.

Hockey Fans

On Quinn's 3rd birthday we went to a hockey game with Sylvia. It is always a great time to go to the games, especially with someone that has never been to one. Sylvia enjoyed herself, even though jetlag was setting in and she was anxious to hit the pillow. Mitchell and Quinn like seeing Bomer the mascot, cheering for our team and eating popcorn!

Another Milestone!

Happy Birthday Quinn! On Quinn's third birthday his cousin Sylvia came to visit ... the best present ever! We went to Moose's Tooth for pizza and then to the Alaska Aces hockey game. A great time! Quinn's birthday cake had a Hawaiian scene on it, complete with palm trees, fish in the ocean, the beach and umbrellas!
