FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL

Quinn was very ready to start preschool, especially since big brother had already started first grade. He was also excited to start school because this year one of his best buddies, Shane, was going to join him there.

FAMILY CAMP 2008

Labor Day for us means it's off to Midnight Sun Bible Camp, our church camp, for Family Camp weekend. This camp is several miles down a one lane dirt road that requires a 4X4 truck to get you there. It is situated on beautiful Lynx Lake with a rustic lodge and kitchen and several cabins for sleeping. Now when I say cabin, I mean four walls and a roof. No heat, no electricity, simply shelter. It works. The weekend is spent enjoying family time and just having as much fun as you can pack in in one weekend. The boys arrived at camp and Mitchell immediately said, "Can we live here?" It is a true paradise for kids, both young and not so young. The highlights of our weekend are shown in the photos below.

Family Camp signifies the end of summer for us in Alaska. Tourists are back home, gift shops are closed down and boats are soon to be winterized. I typically have had my fill of camping and fishing by this time anyway and I'm ready to move on to fall activities. Around the Guyer house that means College football, oh excuse me, HUSKER football!!!! Scott will spend many a Saturday coaching his team from the couch and wrestling his boys during commercials. I will be set free to attend cycling class or pilates or whatever suits my fancy! Gotta love fall!!

ARE THEY CRAZY?

Yes they are crazy! Mitchell decided tubing would be a blast! Dad held on to Mitchell's tube and off they went.

Is this fun or what?

He survives! What a champ!

JUST LIKE HIS DAD

A big part of Family Camp is catching pike. Mitchell loves to catch fish, especially pike, since he can catch them all by himself!

So proud!

CAMP ZIP-LINE

A great new addition to camp was the zip-line. All the kids had a blast on it (as long as they were caught at the end, right Mary????).

Exhausted

From the moment Quinn woke up, to the moment his eyes closed at the end of the day, he was going non-stop! He barely made it 5 minutes in the car on the way home before crashing.
